InStreatham

Bringing a high street together through a shared identity

Brand strategy and long-term creative support for one of London's most diverse high streets.

The Challenge

Creating one identity from many neighbourhoods.

Representing more than 500 businesses across Europe’s longest high road, InStreatham needed more than a refreshed logo. The BID wanted to create a stronger sense of place while celebrating the distinct character of its different neighbourhoods. The challenge was to develop an identity that businesses, residents and visitors could all recognise, while providing a flexible framework for future campaigns, events and public realm projects.

Working closely with the BID, local stakeholders and a research team, we helped develop a brand strategy informed by audience insight and illustrated visitor personas. Rather than applying a generic place brand, we created an identity rooted in Streatham itself, giving each neighbourhood its own colour and character while strengthening the identity of the High Road as a whole.

The Results

A framework that continues to support the High Road.

The new identity has become the foundation for an evolving programme of communications across Streatham. From annual reports, newsletters and seasonal campaigns to trail maps, festivals, public realm graphics and business engagement, the visual system continues to support new initiatives while remaining instantly recognisable.

Our relationship has also evolved beyond the original brand strategy. Today we continue to act as an extension of the InStreatham team, providing ongoing creative support across digital communications, placemaking, publications and events. By combining long-term strategic thinking with responsive day-to-day delivery, we’ve helped create a more cohesive and confident identity for one of London’s most distinctive high streets.

"We were very impressed with how B1 Creative took the time to do things in the right way. It would have been easy to simply stamp a blueprint onto Streatham that had worked elsewhere, but this felt entirely bespoke to us, our community was part of the process, and that generated a level of support and ownership from all of those involved."
